Dr. Victor Abbey, Founder and Lead Consultant of The Abbey Consult, delivered an inspiring leadership presentation to members of the Police Ladies Association of the Ghana Police Service (POLAS) on the theme, “The Leader in You: Unlocking the Leadership Potential of the Female Police Officer.at the association’s maiden National Executive Council meeting and training programme from 23rd – 24th July 2026, at the National Police Headquarters, Accra. The engaging session challenged participants to view leadership beyond ranks and positions, emphasizing that true leadership begins with character, influence, competence, and a commitment to serving others with integrity.

Addressing officers from across the Service, with live coverage on Ghana Police TV, Dr. Abbey underscored the critical role female police officers play in shaping the future of policing in Ghana. He highlighted the unique leadership strengths women bring to modern law enforcement, including emotional intelligence, resilience, empathy, collaboration, ethical decision-making, and effective communication, as qualities that are essential for building public trust and delivering people-centred policing.

Drawing on practical examples, interactive discussions, and leadership reflections, Dr. Abbey encouraged participants to embrace continuous personal and professional development, build confidence in their abilities, and intentionally prepare themselves for greater leadership responsibilities. He stressed that every female police officer, regardless of rank, possesses the capacity to influence lives, strengthen institutions, and contribute meaningfully to national development.

A key message throughout the presentation was that leadership is demonstrated daily through professionalism, integrity, service, and the willingness to mentor others. Participants were challenged to become role models within the Ghana Police Service by leading through example, supporting fellow officers, and investing in the development of the next generation of women leaders. Dr. Abbey further reminded participants that while the Police uniform symbolizes authority, it is Character that builds trust, Competence that earns respect, and Leadership that leaves a lasting legacy.

Dr Abbey also presented copies of his latest book, Intelligence Service Leadership in a VUCA World to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno through his representative COP Dr Kwame Daniel Afriyie (Director General – Private Security Organizations). Other recipients of the book included COP/Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaah Addo-Danquah (Special Advisor to the Minister of the Interior & National President of POLAS), and COP/Ms. Lydia Yaako Donkor (Director General – CID). POLAS as an association, also procured 70 copies for its Executive Council members.
